Understanding and Exploring the Concept of Fear, in the Work Context and Its Role in Improving Safety Performance and Reducing Well-Being in a Steady Job Insecurity Period

Job insecurity is attributable to the fear of being exploited by organization and may have negative effects on employees. For example, it lead employees adopt non-compliant or deviant behaviors that harm individuals their organization. However, knowledge about specific fears positive organizations limited. Therefore, this study aimed detect main related job in an hidden meanings included each these cause important work-related outcomes. Further, we identified safety previously fears. Notably, investigated whether reduce well-being, number accidents near misses, they increase perceived probability making mistakes. We conducted 65 focus groups with 37 managers/employees 180 workers separate groups. Furthermore, completed a self-report questionnaire. eleven ten behaviors. Multivariate regression analyses revealed were significantly negatively associated well-being but not mistakes causing accidents.
